A first home game with the 1st team on the pitch next door leads to its own challenges, and we wanted to put up a strong side against Morley to make sure we got the win. And we were not disappointed when 25 players turned out for us. This gave us the opportunity to keep rolling our subs on and off the pitch and keep our legs fresh.
The game started and we were under some serious pressure within our own 22 for about fifteen minutes, but an early penalty kick miss from Morley shocked us into action. The forwards started to get to the breakdown of play first and we started to ruck the ball better, but our main strength was in the maul. David Massey and Scott Wallis at Prop had a fantastic first half with Nick Boyes acting as the terrier behind them. Levi Colgan was dominant at 8 and his breaking runs were the difference, and led to his two tries. Not to be out done Simon Colgan (Levi's Father) got himself on the score sheet with a barreling drive over the line. It was then left to our backs as Will Jefferson made some darting runs on the left wing and got himself on the score sheet. While all the tries in the world are fantastic, a special mention needs to go to Matty Finch for converting every single one of them.
Morley did get them selves on the score sheet with a try and a penalty.
