The usual mix of old heads and young lads tried to play their trade mark wide running game despite very difficult conditions. The forwards battle was a close contest with debutant prop forward Royston carrying the ball strongly in his first game.

Wetherby played with the wind behind them in the first half scoring three tries. The first a well finished effort by improving young winger Andy Cunningham followed by two through the dancing feet of evergreen centre Oliver Robertson.

The second half playing against the wind the Wetherby defence worked overtime to constantly repel the Northallerton attacks for 20 minutes before Northallerton got over the try line.

However Wetherby came back strongly finishing the last ten minutes in the opposition 22 being rewarded with the final try of the day for the energetic young wing forward Will Cayton. Final score 20-5 to Wetherby 2nds for their 10th win of the season.

This Saturday sees Wetherby 1st team in league action at home to Halifax with both the 2nd team and Veterans away at Selby.
