It is now over a year since Wetherby were beaten having clinched their 15th league victory of the season over Wensleydale.

Wensleydale were quicker out of the blocks than the Reds, their forwards working their way up field and even shunting Wetherby back in the first scrum , not something that has happened before this season. The visitors were rewarded with a 10th minute try.
This sounded a wake up call for Wetherby and they hit back 6 minutes later with a try created by a break by Andy Trotman, who after an injury hit start to the season has now come into form, frequently teasing the opposition with his footwork. Having breached the Dale defence he put Conor Sheriden in for a converted try.

Playing with much more conviction the Reds kept probing but poor handling let them down . The home pack were exerting more pressure resulting in more ball for the backs. Some great handling and. a superb final pass by Conor Sheriden put Barney Roberts in to score. The good handling continued and Conor Sheriden scored a fine try to make the half time score 17 - 5. Wetherby had missed several opportunities to improve the score by not letting the ball go
when in good attacking positions.

Soon after half time the Reds pulled off a a smart move involving several dummy runners from which Andy Trotman scored . With the home forwards in the ascendancy Elliot Griffiths stole a maul ball and broke through . A J Hills was up in support linking with the ever alert Conor Sheriden who scored a converted try.

Wensleydale now came back with a good try out wide after sustained pressure but were unable to add more points . It was the Reds who had the final say when after several thrusts Will Jefferson went over and Conor Sheriden obliged with the conversion.
After a slow start Wetherby got back on track and now lead the league by 20 points. They go to Sheffield next week for a rearranged league game against Mosborough which should prove a good test for them.
