A confident and composed display

Wetherby's winning streak continues with a confident and composed display against a battling Halifax Vandals .Thus ensuring they kept their unbeaten record of 14 league matches without defeat which sees them 19 league points ahead of their nearest rivals.

It was not a day for open rugby with both a heavy ball and ground conditions but one when the forwards saw most of the action .Tthe Reds came out on top but it took 20 minutes to break through with a Rob Adair try and a Connor Sheriden conversion which followed a bright start by the visitors. By half time Wetherby had doubled their lead when from one of the few successful moves by the backs Danny Warden galloped over from the 22 for a converted try.

Immediately after the break Wetherby scored again. Tom Edwards made a searing break and Danny Warden,s quick hands put Barney Roberts in for a good try. The Wetherby pack were well on top now shoving the Halifax pack back at every scrum. After a series of drives by them they scored a pushover try at the second attempt by Will Dutton to secure a bonus point. The next try came from some composed back play which young and improving Will Jefferson finished off rounding behind the posts for Connor Sheriden to convert. Though Halifax came into the game strongly in the latter part of the game the competent Reds defence held them out.

Wetherby host Old Modernians in the Silver Trophy Semi Final at Grange Park on the 14th February. Next week they host Stanley Rodillians KO 2.15
