Halifax put pressure on right from the start but good home defence held them out for 10 minutes. After a try saving tackle by Tom Edwards the clearing kick was charged down resulting in a converted try for the visitors. Soon afterwards a further handling mistake close to their line allowed the Halifax centre to reach over and score.
At last Wetherby began to string together some fluent passing and a flowing move was rewarded with a try by Andy Trotman which Alex Duss converted brilliantly from the touchline. However just before half time another handling mistake allowed the Halifax scrum half to kick ahead and score leaving The Reds trailing 19 points to 7 at half time.
Only 2 minutes after the break Liam Hogan scored a great individual try using his speed and strength to rip through the Visitors defence. Alex Duss converted. Shortly afterwards after good Wetherby forward work Bradley Mason took a short sharp pass from a ruck and forced his way over to level the scores.
Halifax came back strongly and dominated the exchanges for the rest of the game. They kicked a winning penalty and the hosts could not break the hold particularly in the line out which Wetherby for some reason rarely contested the throw in.
So another close game ending in defeat which puts pressure on The Reds to get more league points or they will find themselves in a relegation scrap.
