In a bright start Wetherby let their young back division loose to good effect. They scored a great opening try after 10 minutes.
Henry Morgan, back after a year's absence, dived in at the corner after shrugging off his opposite number. This followed good intelligent passing across the backline. Myles Oates converted from the touchline.
Hemsworth settled now and came into the game more but stout defence by Wetherby kept them out but eventually the pressure told and they scored an unconverted try.
It became more of a forwards game and there were some feisty exchanges with the Referee handing out 3 yellow cards which had the desired effect. The visitors decided to concentrate on a forwards game consequently Wetherby suffered a lack of good possession and their young backs were unable to add to the score.
The visitors finally scored their match winning converted try 20 minutes from time and though there was a good effort from Tom Edwards and Matthew Bartle in the forwards Hemsworth proved too strong and dominated possession which was well used by their fly half who frequently sent The Reds backwards with some intelligent kicking and Wetherby were unable to provide an attacking platform.
So a close defeat which was against good opposition. Coach Wayne Pawson should be able to build on the performance when they visit Rodillians next Saturday.
