This top versus bottom of the league game produced a predictable result with Wetherby handing out an 11 try thrashing of Adwick.
The home side racked up a 24 points in even time before Adwick scored on one of their rare visits into Wetherby’s territory Micky Youlden continued his excellent form along with skipper Nick Olte. They patrolled the defensive line sweeping up the many Adwick mistakes and setting the Reds attack in motion along with Andy Gilligan who had a good game substituting for the evergreen Nick Oates.
The home scrum was dominant all afternoon thanks to Frank Pitchford and Richie Watts. Hooker Nick young was always about in the mauls winning good ball. This allowed the home threes to attack regularly but the pack had the satisfaction of a pushover try. Myles Oates converted 5 of the tries and scored one himself. Ben Dalby enjoyed a couple of long distance tries and Pete Carr skipped a tackle to score.
A satisfying result for Wetherby in their chase for promotion which is now wide open. Knaresbro’ have a 1 point lead over Wetherby who have 3 points more than Wensleydale. They have the meanest defensive record in the league
