First Half
Pocklington started the game strongly by battering away at the Wetherby line early. After resolute defence thwarted an early Pocklington attack by holding up a try attempt over the line, Wetherby cleared their lines. More organised play from the hosts found some soft defence around the ruck which set Pocklington away for their first try, scored by Rob Boddy but unconverted. (5-0). With Wetherby struggling to find any territory or possession in the game, their defence held firm for another 15 minutes before Pocklington finally extended their lead through Jed Jackson, again unconverted. (10-0). Wetherby responded well from the kick-off and finally put some phases together. A half-break down the left from captain Charlie Yates set the returning Mackenzie Scurr free to crash over the fullback and score on the stroke of half-time, Yates converting. (10-7).

Second Half
Wetherby made a bright start to the second half but couldn't convert a period of early pressure in the Pocklington 22. A Wetherby knock-on when trying to force a try-assisting pass gave Pocklington the ability to clear their lines. Their impressive forwards marched them up the field and eventually crossed the line through their number 8 Archie Wilcock, converted by Harry Matthews. (17-7). The home side quickly backed this up with a well worked try from a cross-field kick being dotted down by winger Flynn Sangwin, again converted by Matthews. (24-7). Pocklington's purple patch continued as they crossed for an unconverted try through fullback Freddie Peel. (29-7).
