Wetherby RUFC Juniors Celebrate Triple Yorkshire Cup Final Success

Wetherby RUFC is celebrating a landmark achievement for its thriving junior section, with three age-grade teams reaching the finals of this season’s Yorkshire Cup.

On Sunday 22 March 2026, Wetherby will be represented in three separate finals across the county — a remarkable accomplishment that highlights the strength and growth of the club’s youth programme.

The Under-14s will take on Bradford & Bingley RUFC at Yarnbury RUFC.

The Under-15s face York RUFC at Ripon RUFC.

The club’s Under-16s will travel to Wheatley Hills RUFC to contest the Yorkshire Cup Plate Final against the hosts.

Reaching three finals in the same season underlines the club’s growing reputation as one of the region’s most productive environments for developing young rugby talent. The junior section continues to attract players from across the wider catchment area, drawn by both the quality of coaching and the strong community ethos at the club.

Simon Clutterbuck, Mini Junior Chairman at Wetherby RUFC, praised the players and coaches behind the achievement.

“Having three teams in their respective finals on 22nd March is testimony to the quality of rugby that is being played at the club. Our junior section is growing year on year with our players benefitting from everything that's great about this sport. We're hoping all the finalists have a great day on 22nd March, and if they can bring back some silverware, that's even better!”

The finals day promises to be a proud occasion for the club, with players, coaches, families and supporters expected to travel across Yorkshire to cheer on the teams.

For a club built on community spirit, development and enjoyment of the game, the success of its young players is further proof that the future of rugby in Wetherby is in very good hands.
