Our 1XV squandered a good opportunity to climb up the league table on Saturday as they were overturned by a dogged Malton & Norton side. An ill-disciplined first half saw some good attacking work undone by two yellow cards as Malton went in 14-17 up at half-time. A further infringement left Wetherby 14-20 down with 20 minutes to go. Two well worked tries put them back in front but some very poor missed conversion attempts were costly as Malton scored again to make it 24-25. A difficult late penalty opportunity went agonisingly wide as Malton held on for a deserved victory.
Tries: J Clark, J Draper, O Carr, F Roberts
Conv: Walters, Wilson

Our 2XV registered their first win of the season thanks to a much more organised display against York RI. The set piece laid the foundation for some early forward dominance as two early tries put Wetherby 12-7 up. The dangerous York RI backs then hit back with a try of their own before two more Wetherby tries built from their scrum and lineout respectively. York hit back with a try either side of half-time to close the game back up to within a score, before Wetherby released the shackles and scored three quick tries. York RI then powered over with the last play of the game to earn themselves a deserved try bonus point.
Tries: W Blakey (3), F Ortelli (2), J Turton, C Tatterton
Conv: J Turton, S Austin (4)
