Our 1st XV got their season underway with a comprehensive win against Selby in front of a bumper crowd at Grange Park. After taking an early 10-0 lead, Selby fought back to lead 10-14 at half-time before a dominant second half display saw Wetherby score 22 unanswered points. Combining some free-flowing running rugby and a very effective set piece, the score should have been even rosier had Wetherby not missed 5 conversions.

Our 2nd XV had a chastening start to their league campaign with a threadbare squad making the journey over to Skipton. A tough first hour against an organised an experienced opposition left Wetherby with a mountain to climb as they found themselves 53-0 down. Despite having to go down to 13 men due to injuries, the young squad showed outstanding heart to fight back with three tries of their own. Unfortunately a late opportunity to secure a 4-try bonus point went awry, but the last 20 minutes certainly give the team something to build on in the coming weeks.
