This is the hardest letter I have ever had to write not just to commemorate Richard’s passing but to find enough words to thank so many people for their moving tributes to our precious son. They demonstrate the love and affection and respect they had for him. We are most grateful for the many, many cards, letters and e-mails of condolence we have received and for the magnificent donations to his chosen charities which now stands at over £21,000 (truly amazing)

On his funeral day we could not have expected such a massive turnout both along our route and particularly at Grange Park. The sight of all those who turned out will remain in my thoughts forever. It was an unbelievable and touching sight and it brings tears to my eyes when I think about it.

Thank you to everyone who turned out to say farewell and those who arranged everything. The memorial over the clubhouse door was so moving as was the sight of all those youngsters in their rugby and soccer kit.

We have received so many cards, letters and e-mails of condolence it is impossible to say THANK YOU to everyone but we hope this letter goes some way to expressing how much we appreciate the outpouring of love and affection for our son who we are so proud of.
