Learn to Coach

"Developing Effective Environments for Children in Sport" will help coaches across the globe to create positive experiences for children

iCoachKids' centre-piece is the development of a series of three Massive Open Online Courses or MOOCs to support and guarantee access to high quality coach education to all coaches around the EU and beyond.

ACCESS THE MOOC HERE

The contents of the MOOCs are based on the European Coaching Children Curriculum (ECCC) also developed as an output of iCK.

The MOOCs are intended as an accessible yet comprehensive resource for coaches and coach developers. Due to the Open Licence, coaches will be able to sign up for the MOOCs individually or as part of a course edition run by the specific organisation they are part of.

Coach education institutes, universities, federations and clubs are welcome to FREE OF CHARGE use the MOOCs in full or partially as part of their coach development offer.

If you want to run a 'closed edition' for your coaches or tu fully customise the course to your audience please get in touch.

Coaches and coach developers will also be able to freely access the downloadable MOOC Student Learning Guides to use them as they see fit.

The first MOOC is already available and the next two will go live in 2019.

The MOOCs are aimed at beginner and intermediate youth coaches, yet we are confident that the quality of the courses and the ancillary materials and study guides will make them attractive to even the most experienced and knowledgeable coaches out there.

The courses incorporate a mix of taught content via videos and interactive activities, and reflective and applied work wherein the learning coach will be engaged in ‘real-life’ tasks related to the content covered on the course.

The titles of the three courses are:

  • MOOC #1 Developing Effective Environments for Children in Sport
  • MOOC #2 Child & Youth Centred Coaching
  • MOOC #3 Coaching Children: Planning, Doing and Reviewing

If you have any suggestions or comments about the MOOCs please contact project Director Sergio Lara-Bercial s.lara-bercial@leedsbeckett.ac.uk

iCoachKids is co-funded by an Erasmus+ grant and led by Leeds Beckett University (LBU) and the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE). It brings together another six world-class organisations with a common desire to support children and youth coaches and a proven track record of doing so. These include Sport Ireland Coaching, the Hungarian Coaches Association, the Netherlands Olympic Committee, the European University of Madrid, Lithuanian Sport University, and the Royal Belgian Football Association.
