BEST EVER SEASON

Wetherby completed their best ever season on Saturday with a convincing 42-15 victory over Osset . During this fantastic season they have won all 22 of their league games and amassed 1275 points for and conceded only 119..
It was a sunny and breezy day and both teams served up bright rugby. Wetherby went on the attack up the hill and it was after some 15 minutes, mostly spent in the Ossett half that the Reds broke through. In their usual style they kept the ball alive when attacking down the right , they handled the ball well for Andy Trotman to go over in the left corner.
Connor Sheriden converted brilliantly from the touchline.
Ossett replied 10 minutes later with a try from a quick tap penalty, Wetherby's reply was for Myles Oates to go over again from quick hands putting him into space. Their next try was a beauty, straight off the training park. From a scrum the ball looked to be going along the back line when Danny Warden put an inside pass into the hnds of Connor Sheriden whose pace was far too much for the home defence. Ossett to their credit kept hard at it particularly in the loose but Wetherby's good forward pressure at the scrum enabled Myles Oates to score his second try. Ossett replied again with a well worked short line out to make the score 28-10.
The Reds went further ahead from their fine scrum power from which Skipper James Gibson plunged over from short range..
Plucky Ossett were not finished however when a kick to the corner engineered a score. Wetherby's final try of this remarkable season was typical of the way they have played their open attractive rugby. Jack Kaye fielded a ball inside his own 22 and ran to well over halfway before handing on to his plentiful support and after another couple of pairs of hands Andy Trotman scored wide out and the ever reliable Connor Sheriden kicked his sixth conversion.
After this perfect season Wetherby can look forward eagerly to playing in Yorkshire 3 next season after contesting the Silver Trophy Final on Sunday 10th May ay York. Transport is a vailable
